Bengali settlers have gathered in the South Lalchari
Rubber Plantation area of Ramgarh upazila in Khagrachari and are threatening to
evict the indigenous hill people, according to local sources. This has caused
widespread fear among the local hill residents.
According to sources, around 9:00 p.m. tonight
(Friday, October 24, 2025), under the leadership of Md. Mostafa, about 50 to 60
settlers from Khagrabil and Sonarkhil arrived at the rubber plantation area on
motorcycles and CNG auto-rickshaws.
From there, they reportedly issued threats, declaring
that “no hill person will be allowed to stay in Rupai Chari village.”
Due to such threats from the settlers, a state of
panic now prevails among the indigenous residents.
