The Bangladesh Army personnel carried out a midnight
raid and house searches in Hachuk Para of Ramgarh upazila in Khagrachari
district on Tuesday (October 14, 2025). The incident has caused widespread
panic among local residents.
According to local sources, around midnight
(approximately 12:00 AM), army personnel arrived in Hachuk Para in eight
vehicles and conducted an extended operation.
Initially, the army positioned themselves in the
Chittagong Bagan area of Hachuk Para. Around 1:00 AM, they surrounded one
house, seemingly preparing for a search, but eventually did not carry it out.
Later, they searched the home of local resident Basufa Tripura (64).
During the search, the army interrogated Basufa
Tripura, asking whether he knew anyone named “Subash Tripura.” Victims reported
that during the operation, the army spoke in Tripura, Chakma, and Marma
languages.
Locals suspect that along with the army, several
masked and armed individuals (reportedly including Sulen Chakma, Dhiman
Tripura, and a few others) also took part in the raid.
However, no one could confirm from which army camp the
personnel had come.
There are allegations that during the operation, the
army attempted to extract information on the whereabouts and secrets of UPDF
members (United People's Democratic Front) by intimidating locals and offering
financial incentives.
After the operation, around 8:00 AM on Wednesday
(October 15), the army left the area in two groups. One group departed toward
Batnatali in four vehicles, and the other headed toward Nakapa in four
vehicles, according to the latest information.
Following the incident, panic spread across Hachuk
Para and surrounding villages. Many residents spent the night in fear and
anxiety.
One local resident said, “Suddenly seeing so many army
personnel in the middle of the night, we all became terrified.”
Meanwhile, locals reported that due to the recent
increase in nighttime army patrols and raids in various areas of Ramgarh,
ordinary people are being forced to live in fear and insecurity.
