An alarming situation arose among the local
population when a group of armed members of the JSS Santu Group entered the
Rajkumar Para area of Panchari with the support of the army. However, it is
reported that they were later forced to withdraw from the area due to
resistance from the local people.
According to reports, early this morning (Monday, 22
December 2025) at around 5:00 a.m., a group of 50–60 armed members of the Santu
Group entered Rajkumar Para via Batya Para of Chengi Union No. 2 and took up
positions there. They ordered villagers to provide meals consisting of 30
kilograms of rice.
The distance between Rajkumar Para and the army’s
temporary camp (set up in the Samiti mango orchard beside Jagapara) is only
about 400–500 yards. Despite this, the army reportedly took no action.
Later, at around 9:30 a.m., facing resistance from
the local population, the armed members of the Santu Group moved to an area
close to the army’s temporary camp, where they remained throughout the day. The
army reportedly provided them with full security. Later in the afternoon, they
left the area via the side of the temporary army camp and moved toward Baghya
Para.
Local residents have said that armed members of the
Santu Group are currently staying in the Machayachara and Dhudukchara areas.
There are allegations that army personnel from the
temporary camp in the Chammey Adam area of Logang Union are assisting the armed
members of the Santu Group stationed in Machayachara.
Local residents allege that by supporting the Santu
Group, the army is creating an unstable situation in the Panchari area. As a
result, although members of the Santu Group are openly moving around with
weapons and carrying out various terrorist activities, the army is taking no
action against them.
Commenting that such collusion with the army has
exposed the Santu Group’s “anti-national mask,” local residents said, “The
people will confront them in unity.”
