Members of the Bangladesh Army and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) jointly conducted searches at the homes of three villagers in Headman Para of Taindong Union under Matiranga Upazila in Khagrachari.

According to sources, at around 3:00 a.m. today (Monday, 9 February 2026), 35–40 army personnel arrived in three vehicles from the Matiranga Zone and raided Headman Para of Taindong Union. Shortly afterward, an additional 20–25 BGB members from the nearby Jamini Para BGB camp joined the army personnel. The army and BGB members then jointly carried out searches at the homes of three villagers, which locals described as harassment.

The affected villagers are:

1. Rabishwar Tripura (28), father: Kamal Jyoti Tripura;

2. Gopal Tripura (25), father: Prajesh Tripura; and

3. Nipu Tripura (40), father: Chandra Hari Tripura.

All of them are residents of Headman Para.

As of the time of writing this report, local residents stated that army personnel were stationed at Taindong High School and Taindong Bazaar.

Local people allege that although an armed group of 35–40 members of the JSS Santu Group has reportedly been staying in the Bhagaban Tila area since 2 January, the army and BGB have taken no action against them. Instead, they are harassing ordinary villagers.

Meanwhile, ahead of the elections, such unlawful searches at villagers’ homes under the cover of darkness have sparked anger among local residents. People in the area believe that this incident is a conspiracy to intimidate hill voters and create fear among them.
