Police recovered the blood-stained body of a Marma
woman from the kitchen of her home in the Borobil area of Manikchhari Upazila
in Khagrachari district.
The deceased has been identified as Ramra Marma, 41, a
mother of three sons and one daughter. Her body was recovered on Tuesday
morning, March 10, 2026, from the kitchen of her residence in Ward No. 6 of
Batnatali Union.
According to the victim’s daughter, college student
Anuma Marma, she and her mother went to bed around 10:00 p.m. on Monday night (March 9), after having dinner together. When she woke up at around 7:30 a.m.,
she could not find her mother in the room. While searching for her, she went to
the kitchen and noticed someone lying on a bed wrapped in a blanket.
When she removed the blanket, she discovered her
mother’s blood-stained body with visible injuries to the head and neck. She
began screaming, prompting nearby residents to rush to the scene. Police were
later informed and subsequently recovered the body.
Family members said that Ramra Marma had been living
with her children for several years following her divorce. She supported the
family by working as a day laborer. Her only daughter lived with her, while her
two elder sons worked in other locations. Another son had spent the night of
the incident at a nearby Buddhist monastery.
Mohammad Al Amin, Inspector (Investigation) of
Manikchhari Police Station, said police recovered the body after receiving the
report.
“Preliminarily, it appears to be a case of murder.
Legal procedures are currently underway,” he said.
