An Indigenous youth was reportedly assaulted and
robbed after three to four masked assailants stopped his motorcycle in the
Taikarma area of Sindukchhari Union in Guimara Upazila, Khagrachhari District.
The victim, identified as Mongshinu Marma, 25, was
reportedly beaten by the assailants, who allegedly stole Tk 3,000 in cash
before fleeing the scene and leaving him on the road.
The incident reportedly occurred at around 8:30 p.m.
on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Mongshinu Marma is the son of Suihla Pru Marma of
Mukhpara in Ward No. 9 of Sindukchhari Union.
According to local residents and police sources,
Mongshinu was returning home to Mukhpara from Guimara Bazar on his motorcycle
on Wednesday night. When he reached the Taikarma area, three to four masked
individuals reportedly stopped his motorcycle. They allegedly beat him and took
Tk 3,000 in cash before leaving him on the road and fleeing the area.
Local residents later found Mongshinu unconscious and
informed the authorities.
He was subsequently taken to Guimara BGB Hospital for treatment. After receiving initial treatment, he was reportedly handed over to his family at around 11 p.m.
Police and local residents said they had not been able
to determine who was responsible for the attack.
Guimara Police Station said no case had been filed as
of Thursday. Police said legal action would be taken based on a complaint from
the victim and his family.
