THE military-backed Borkha Party terrorists kidnapped and released two villagers in Manikchari under Khagrachari district.

According to sources, Thoi-iri Marma, 47, son of late Ukyojai Marma was kidnapped on Monday evening from Devatoli village while he was on his way to a local tea shop.

The armed terrorists took him first to Dajyapara in Tintehori Union and later shifted him to Challyachur area in Kumari, eyewitnesses said.

However, he was released on Tuesday morning (at 8:30am) after pressure was brought to bear on the kidnappers.

In another incident, on Sunday night (11 May), the BP terrorists abducted Adu Pru Marma, 35, a resident of Dajyapara village, while he was on his way to visit neighboring Moshkaba village.

He was held hostage overnight, tortured and released the next morning.

The Borkha Party terrorists moved to Manikchari late last month after their hideout was attacked in Khiram, a Bengali area sharing border with CHT’s Bormachari Union.
