TWO innocent Jumma villagers were arrested by army on Wednesday from Horidhan Mogpara under Matiranga Upazila purportedly on suspicion of their involvement in the assault of a Bengali settler.

According to sources, a group of army men from Matiranga Zone raided Horidhan Mogpara in Belchari Union and detained Mongsha Thoai Marma, 35, son of late Uthoai Marma and Aungkyo Chai Marma, 40, son of late Sui Hla Pru Marma from their respective homes.

They are believed to have been arrested in connection with an incident in which one Jahangir Alam, 30, an employee of Md. Ali, who has a tea shop at Bot-toli, was assaulted by unidentified individuals on Monday, 12 August.

However, their family sources said none of the arrested was involved in the assault.
