TWO innocent Jumma
villagers were arrested by army on Wednesday from Horidhan Mogpara under
Matiranga Upazila purportedly on suspicion of their involvement in the assault
of a Bengali settler.
According to sources,
a group of army men from Matiranga Zone raided Horidhan Mogpara in Belchari
Union and detained Mongsha Thoai Marma, 35, son of late Uthoai Marma and
Aungkyo Chai Marma, 40, son of late Sui Hla Pru Marma from their respective
homes.
They are believed to
have been arrested in connection with an incident in which one Jahangir Alam,
30, an employee of Md. Ali, who has a tea shop at Bot-toli, was assaulted by
unidentified individuals on Monday, 12 August.
However, their family
sources said none of the arrested was involved in the assault.
The army sent them to
jail in Khagrachari.
