THE army arrested
Ittukya Chakma alias Durjoy, 35, an activist of the United Peoples’ Democratic
Front (UPDF, www.updfcht.com) from
Nalkaba area of Panchari Upazila on Saturday, 13 September.
The army arrested him at about 1pm when he was holding a meeting
with the local people.
“A group of army personnel form
Panchari zone surrounded the house where he was holding the meeting and
arrested him,” a UPDF leader told chtnews.com.
Durjoy was taken to Panchari zone
where he was beaten severely.
Later he was handed over to the police and sent to
Khagrachari jail. It is not immediately clear what charges have been brought
against him.
