Wife of DYF leader kidnapped by Santu group in Kaptai

SUMITA CHAKMA, wife of a leader of the Democratic Youth Forum, has been kidnapped by Santu Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti from Chitmorom in Kaptai.

The kidnappers are demanding a ransom of Taka 50,000 ($ 625) for her release.

According to DYF sources, the JSS men kidnapped Sumita, wife of Shohel Chakma, organizing secretary of DYF Chandgaon unit, at gun point in the morning today when she went to Chitmorom Buddhist Temple along with another woman who is also believed to be involved in the incident.

DYF leaders believe that Santu Group men active in Chandgaon, Chittagong, such as Navo Jyoti, Subash, Suresh and Mintu are also involved in the planning and execution of the kidnapping.

Shohel Chakma said he is preparing to file a case against the kidnappers.
