THE army on Thursday arrested a Jumma youth named Rupan Chakma while he was carrying festoons from Dighinala to Baghaichari for the UPDF’s 17th founding anniversary programmes to be held tomorrow, 26 December.

Rupan Chakma son of Patter Moni Chakma of Balughat village in Sajek was arrested from Dosh Nombor (Number 10) area at 5pm on 24 December.

The soldiers stopped his motorbike and detained him along with the festoons, which read “Long Live Memorable 26 December” and “Rally behind UPDF to save national entity.”

The festoons were meant to be hung in open public areas in Sajek and Baghaichari, sources in UPDF told chtnews.com.
