Three including two UPDF activists arrested in Khagrachari

TWO activists of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF) and a motorbike driver were arrested from Perachara and Guimara in Khagrachari district.

On 15 June, at about 5 pm, plain clothed army intelligence people arrested Mithu Chakma alias Milon, 26, and Milon Bikash Tripura, 34, from a tea shop at Perachara, two kilometers north of Khagrachari district head quarters.

Mithu Chakma son of Protimoy Chakma is a UPDF activist and hails from Kamini Karbari Para village in Maischari, Mahalchari while Milan Tripura, son of Modon Mohon Tripura is a motorbike driver and hails from Perachara village.

In another incident, on 13 June, another UPDF activist named Sajai Marma, 32, was arrested while he was returning from Bajpara on a motorbike after attending a meeting there.

Some army intelligence personnel from Matiranga zone halted him at Kobutorchara Rastamatha area near Toimatai bridge in Guimara at11am and then took him to zone headquarters.

Later he was handed over to the Guimara police who sent him to Khagrachari jail after implicating him in a previously filed case.
