AN activist of the United Peoples' Democratic Front (UPDF) was kidnapped in Laxmichari under Khagrachari district.
Sources said members of the military-backed vigilante group, Borkha Party, raided the house of Ananta Chakma at Bandorkaba village around midnight last night, rousted him from bed and then took him away.
Ten - twelve Borkha Party terrorists led by Bilash Chakma and Bizu Chakma kidnapped him at gun point.
He was beaten and is believed to have been taken to Jurgachari in Laxmichari Sadar.
Ananta Chakma's father's name is Chuchangya Chakma.
UPDF Laxmichari Upazila unit has condemned the abduction of Ananta Chakma and urged the local administration to take effective steps to bring the culprits to book.
