Borkha Party kidnaps two in Laxmichari

TWO innocent villagers have been kidnapped in Laxmichari under Khagrachari district by Borkha Party terrorists, a vigilante group formed by Bangladesh army. 

Sources said on 2 October, Dhana Kumar Chakma, 36, son of Tanakko Chakma of village Kolachari under Bormachari Union of Laxmichari was abducted from his father-in-law’s house in the village of Choto Kalapani (Dojoripara) in Manikchari. 
He was taken to an unknown location. His abductors demanded Taka 200,000 ($2667) in return for his release and threatened his family members not to report the matter to the police.<!--mmore----> In another incident, on 4 October, the military-backed Borkha Party terrorists kidnapped Thuicha-u Marma, a 14 years old boy, from Samurhat bazaar in Kanchanpur of Fatikchari Upazila. Thuicha-u is a resident of Dudyapara village under Laxmichari Union No. 1. His father’s name is Hlatho Aung Marma. The terrorists held him the whole day, beat him up and then set him free in the evening in the face of pressure from the villagers. 

The Borkha Party enjoys support from both the government and the Santu Larma faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti. The vigilante group, formed to counter the growing influence of the UPDF in the area, is accused of killing Rui Khoi Marma, a central committee member of the UPDF, in 2009 and of hindering pro-people movements in Laxmichari.
