A SCHOOL girl has been raped in Alikadam of Bandarban
district, reports Suprobhat Bangladesh,
a Bengali daily published from Chittagong,
adding the culprit is alleged to have threatened the victim’s family to cover
up the incident.
Police and victim’s family sources said that on Wednesday
night, Md. Shohel, 20, had
entered the house of late Sunil Mallik of Amtoli Ashraiyon Prokolpo in Alikadam
Upazila and raped his daughter, a eighth grade student.
Shohel’s father’s name is Harun-ar Rashid.
The victim’s family further said a written complaint had
been filed against Shohel on charges of committing rape and against his mother
and brother for threats to kill them.
However Officer-in-charge (OC) of Alikadam police station
Mohammad Hossain denied receiving any such complaint, saying ‘No complaint of
rape has been made till the evening of Thursday.’
Local people said Shohel had been harassing the girl for the
last four years.
‘The matter was reported to the local UP chairman as well as
other village elders, and arbitration meetings were held more then once to
settle the issue.’ they added.
