AN activist of the United Peoples’
Democratic Front (UPDF), Dillip Kumar Chakma alias Binoy, has been shot dead in
Horinathpara, two kilometers east of Khagrachari district town.
‘Nine army-backed NMB vigilantes opened
fire indiscriminately at UPDF activists at 8:30 a. m. today, killing Dillip
Kumar Chakma on the spot,’ a UPDF press release said.
The 42-year-old victim, son of Sontoh
Kumar Chakma, hailed from Monipur village in Pujgang under Chengi Union in
Panchari Upazila.

Khagrachari district unit, has condemned the attack as ‘cowardly’ and demanded
that the government takes legal actions to bring the perpetrators to justice.
