A female Jumma student who accused a teacher named Jasim Uddin of
sexual harassment at Guimara Collegiate High School has reportedly been
subjected to an attempted physical attack and threats.
This followed a protest by students at Guimara High School on July
28, 2025, demanding the removal of Jasim Uddin. A written complaint was also
submitted to the headmaster on behalf of the guardians. Later, army personnel
had arrived at the school and rescued him.

On that day, after taking initial information from the students,
Jasim Uddin was temporarily suspended. Guimara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Irin
Aktar formed a three-member investigation committee to conduct a thorough
inquiry into the incident. Although the investigation committee's report was
supposed to be submitted yesterday (August 13), it is unknown whether it has
been.
However, yesterday, on her way home from school, a female Jumma
student, who was one of those who had complained about sexual harassment, was
reportedly subjected to an attempted physical attack and threats by four
Bengali boys. Although the student managed to protect herself from the attack,
the Bengali boys loudly threatened her, saying, "If you don't withdraw the
complaint against Jasim, unpleasant incidents will occur."
Following this incident, new anger and concern have emerged among
guardians and students. They have expressed apprehension about the safety of
the girls and demanded that those who issued the threats be identified and
brought to justice.
Concerned citizens in the area are stating that the attempted attack
and threats against the students, who complained about the sexual harassment,
are, in effect, an attempt to suppress the truth. They believe the Upazila
administration should make the investigation committee's report public and take
necessary measures to ensure the safety of the students.
