Residents in Baghaichhari say army personnel carried
out searches at two homes in West Jarulchhari village, under Bangaltali Union,
on Thursday morning, April 2, raising concern in the area.
According to local sources, a team of around 15 to 20
soldiers from the Karengatuli Sub-Zone arrived at about 10:00 a.m. and first
went to a shop in Ward No. 1 of the union. Shortly afterward, they moved into
the village and searched the homes of Purnamoy Chakma, son of the late Lanka
Chakma, and Intu Chakma, son of Pittukya Chakma.
Locals described the searches as intrusive, though no
illegal items were reportedly found at either home.
Residents said army personnel were present at Purnamoy Chakma’s house till
afternoon. Their continued presence has left some people in the area feeling
uneasy.
