Bangladesh Army personnel reportedly carried out
large-scale operations in several villages under Panchari Upazila of
Khagrachari district on Sunday morning, May 10, 2026, according to local
sources.
Residents said the operation began at around 7:00 AM
in multiple villages under Logang Union of Panchari Upazila, including
Harigopal Para, Niladhan Para, Bidyamohan Para, Kashipara, Rohindra Para, Benga
Para, Riyang Chhara, Jointo Khasar, Chhayde Chhara, and Dinabandhu Para, as
well as surrounding areas.
Local sources claimed that more than 100 army
personnel participated in the operation.
According to residents, approximately 60 to 70
soldiers entered the area from the Panchari Army Sub-Zone through several
points at dawn. At the same time, another group of around 50 to 60 soldiers,
who had reportedly been stationed earlier in Chikonchan Para, also entered the
area. The forces later conducted operations in several villages one after
another.
Area residents further alleged that three vigilante
members accompanied the army personnel during the operation.
The operation reportedly continued for about an hour. Local sources stated that the soldiers later returned to their respective positions after conducting searches in the area.
The specific reason behind the operation could not be
independently verified. However, local residents believe the operation was
aimed at the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF).
In recent months, residents in Panchari have reported
repeated military operations in areas considered organizational strongholds of
the UPDF. Locals allege that such operations have resulted in harassment,
intimidation, and suffering for ordinary civilians.
