Army searches two houses in Dighinala

News No. 122/2012, Sunday, November 18, 2012

THE army on Saturday searched two houses for members of the United Peoples’ Democratic Front (UPDF) in Babuchara under Dighinala Upazila of Khagrachari district.

Local sources said soldiers in three pick-up vans from Dighinala zone staged a raid in Otikai Karbari Para at Noabazaar in Babuchara and searched the houses of Subhash Basu Chakma’s two sons Sadhan Moni Chakma, 37, and Laxmi Moni Chakma, 33.

They also interrogated them about UPDF members.

“The army wanted to know whether the UPDF men had come to our houses and whether they had held their meeting here.” Sadhan Moni Chakma told chtnews.com.

He said the soldiers, led by Lt. Fakhrul and Ataur, carried out searches even in the husking shed and toilets.

However they found nothing incriminating and went back, he added.
