News No. 11/2013, Thursday, January 31, 2013

AN activist of the Democratic Youth Forum has been seriously wounded when an armed terrorist group loyal to Santu Larma, the president of his faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti, opened fire at him in Dighinala, sources say.

The shooting took place at 4pm today, Thursday, at Nittyogan Para, also known as Chinal Chara, under Babuchara Union.

The DYF activist, Sumon Chakma, 30, son of Bijoy Chakma, was returning home after day’s work when the Santu group men waylaid and shot at him from near Babuchara subzone’s old helipad.

He sustained gunshot wounds below both knees and was recovered by army soldiers of Babuchara subzone.

The army provided emergency medical care in the camp and then transferred him to Khagrachari Sadar hospital.

The DYF president, Natun Kumar Chakma, has condemned the brutal attack and urged all the patriotic Jummas to resist Santu Larma’s anti-people terrorist activities.

“Santu babu no longer serves the cause of our movement. He has become a stooge of the government and the army. Therefore, he must be resisted by all means.” he said.
