DYF leader harassed by intelligence in Matiranga

News No. 117/2013, Tuesday, October 01, 2013

ACTING president of the Democratic Youth Forum’s Matiranga unit, Joni Tripura, was harassed and searched by military intelligence personnel at Matiranga bazaar yesterday.

The incident took place at 5pm, Monday, while Mr Joni was having refreshments at Zannat Restaurant in Matiranga bazar after journeying from his home in Gomati.

“Two Bengali people identifying themselves as Jashim and Forhad and as members of military intelligence accosted me and began asking silly questions such as ‘where are you coming from, where do you live, where will you go, what do you do for a living and blah blah” Joni told chtnews.com.

“They were so rude and uncouth that at one point they went on to search my bag without my permission.” he added.

However, as they found nothing incriminating, they left quietly.
