A JUMMA teenage girl
has been reportedly raped by a Bengali settler in Rannyabari village under
Bhaibone-chara Union in Khagrachari Sadar Upazila.
The 14-year-old girl
has been admitted to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital for medical
treatment.
The villagers held Md.
Zia Rahman, 32, the culprit, and then handed him over to the police. Zia lives
in Bhaibone-chara police barrack area and earns a living from carrying
passengers on motorbikes. His father’s name is Md. Abdul Malek.
According to the
villagers, about 11am on Thursday, Zia dropped a passenger at
Rannyabari.
“On his way back, he
went to the house of the victim, who was alone, and raped her.” a neighbour
told chtnews.com quoting her.
The victim’s parents
were away to their Jum field busy harvesting crops when the incident took
place, he added.
On hearing of the
incident, a group of police personnel led by Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-charge
of Khagrachari police station, rushed to Rannyabari and arrested Zia Rahman.
