An
11-YEAR-OLD Jumma girl child has been subjected to an attempted rape in
Kalapani Tila Para under Jugyochola Union in Manikchari Upazila of Khagrachari
district.
Mr. Farook (35) son
of Khalilur Rahman of the same village made the attempt at about 11 am Thursday,
February 12.
The child was alone
at home while her parents were busy working in the nearby paddy field.
Farook, a motorbike
driver, entered their house, grabbed her and then tried to rape her.
But the victim, a
fifth grade student of Kalapani Government Primary School, screamed for help
and her parents rushed there and rescued her.
They caught Farook
in action but could not dare to hold him in fear of retaliatory attacks in future.
He mounted his
motorbike and sped away.
Her parents and the
village elders later went to the police station to register a case in
connection with the incident.
