News No. 39/2015, Thursday, March 19, 2015

THE POLICE have arrested another Jumma in Dighinala in connection with a case filed by police following the 15 march crackdown on a foot march organized by Dighinala Land Protection Committee.

The police arrested Shuddhojoy Chakma (46), a resident of Khetropur village in Kobakhali Union, from in front of the Development Board Office at Dighinala bazar at 10 a.m. today.
He went to the bazar (market) to buy items needed to offer to a monk to become a Buddhist novice under him.

Earlier on 15 March, the army had arrested 14 Jummas as part of the crackdown. Later three of them were released, but the court had sent the rest including a collage girl, Lilu Chakma, to jail in Khagrachari.

Tensions remain still high in Dighinala.
