A 15-YEAR-OLD school girl was gang raped in
Dighinala on Monday (9 march) night.
The police arrested Sohel Ahmed, president of the Kobakhali
Union branch committee of the Bangladesh Chattra League, the student wing of
the ruling party Awami League in connection with the incident.
The girl, a class ten student of a high school, was returning
home in Noonchari village along with two male friends after attending a religious
ceremony at Dighinala Bana Vihar when the incident took place.
Sohel and his friends took her two friends and
relatives -- Manob Chakma and Sujon Jyoti Chakma -- to Sabuj Sangha club house
at Kobakhali bazar and bound them there, while they forced the victim to a lonely
place behind the club house and then took turn raping her.
The locals rescued the girl the next morning in a devastating
condition and sent her to Khagrachari Sadar hospital. While the police arrested
Sohel, others involved in the incident, Sohag (32), Saiful Islam (26) and Ameer
Hossain are still at large.
