A 15-year-old Jumma
girl has been subjected to an attempted rape in Thuilapara under Bornal Union
in Matiranga Upazila.
According to victim's
family, the girl (from Marma community), a class ten student of Tabalchari Kadamtoli High
School, was on her way to school on foot when a Bengali settler attacked her.
One of her classmate
citing her said, "As soon as she (the victim) reached Rubber Plantation at
09 am today (10 May), a Bengali settler grabbed and pulled her to a roadside
jungle and tried to rape her."
But the girl fought
back and pushed him away and then ran away, she added.
After being informed,
her fellow students and village youths rushed to the place of occurrence, but
by then the culprit had already left the scene.
