A 12-YEAR old Jumma
girl was subjected to an attempted rape in Ramgarh on Friday, sources said.
Md. Hanif, a 20 year
old Bengali settler from Dhakaya Colony in Ramgarh town, attacked the girl, a
fifth grade student, when she and two of her friends went to collect firewood
about two kilometers from her home at Batchandra Para under Ramgarh Sadar Union.
Her two companions and
classmates were able to run away when Hanif, son of Noor Hossain, chased them.
Hanif caught her and
tried to rape her.
But she struggled to
free herself and was rescued when the villagers rushed there after they were
informed about the incident by the escaped children.
The villagers caught
Hanif and later handed him over to the police. It is not known if any case has
been filed against him.
