A LEADER of the Democratic Youth
Forum, Atul Bikash Chakma, has survived an assassination attempt by some
identified miscreants in Itchari Bhitor Para, about two kilometers south of
Khagrachari town.
Atul, general secretary of DYF
Khagrachari Sadar Upazila unit, was at home last night when the armed
miscreants raided his house and looked for him.
They asked the occupants of the
house to open the door and kept banging at the front door when delayed.
Sensing imminent danger, Atul,
also president of the DYF Kamalchari Union branch, escaped through the back
door.
The miscreants, believed to be
members of a regional political party, saw him and opened fire at him.
However, the bullets missed him
and he escaped unhurt.
Atul Chakma’s parents could
recognize three of the attackers – Adi Ratan Chakma, 22, from Karallyachari
Bhitor Para, Ashutosh Chakma, 30, from Champa Ghat and Arjyo Chakma from
Datkuppya.
All of them belong to a regional
political party, according to sources.
