THE army on Wednesday
searched the houses of the leaders of the Sajek Land Protection Committee
during a overnight raid in Ujo bazaar in Baghaichari Upazila under Rangamati
district, according to sources.
Troops from Baghaihat
zone carried out the search on March 23 at about midnight.
They broke into the
house of Gyanendu Bikash Chakma, president of SLPC, before searching every
corner of it. He was not at home while his house was searched.
The army men also
searched three more houses belonging to Jyoti Lal Chakma, vice president of
SLPC, Bilash Chakma, head of the village, and Santu Chakma, member of the SLPC.
The soldiers found no
incriminating materials during the searches, sources added.
