AN
EIGHTH grade girl student of Gaindya
High School in
Rajstali Upazila of Rangamati district has been raped, according to Purbokone,
a daily newspaper published from Chittagong.
In
a news article published on Thursday, 4 October, the daily, quoting a complaint
filed with the police in connection with the incident, said, ‘The girl was
raped by her classmate when she went to a private tutor at 8am on Tuesday.’
The
paper indentified the victim as Mina Tanchangya, 14, daughter of Sudhangshu
Tanchangya, 48, from Longadu Punarbashan area under Gaindya Union No. 2.
‘Ariful
Islam, 16, son of Emdadul Haq of Islampur area raped her’, the paper quoted
Iqbal Hossain, head teacher of Gaindya
High School, as saying.
The
victim’s father filed a case (No. 01/02/10/2012) with Rajstali police station
under section 10 of the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act 2003.
The
accused is reported to be absconding.
