THE
army on Thursday arrested a Jumma youth named Rupan Chakma while he was
carrying festoons from Dighinala to Baghaichari for the UPDF’s 17th founding
anniversary programmes to be held tomorrow, 26 December.
Rupan
Chakma son of Patter Moni Chakma of Balughat village in Sajek was arrested from
Dosh Nombor (Number 10) area at 5pm on 24 December.
The
soldiers stopped his motorbike and detained him along with the festoons, which
read “Long Live Memorable 26 December” and “Rally behind UPDF to save national
entity.”
The
festoons were meant to be hung in open public areas in Sajek and Baghaichari,
sources in UPDF told chtnews.com.
Mr.
Rupan was later handed over to the police, they added.
